Features of the New Emergency Department at Sherman Health
April 24, 2009
The Emergency Department at the new Sherman Hospital will have a lot of great features.

The larger awning is the ambulance drive, the smaller awning is for walk-in ER patients.
You can expect:
- Separate entrances for public and ambulances
- These entrances lead right into the Emergency Department, and are separate from the main hospital entrance, on the other side of the building. This is part of the smart-flow traffic design of the building, which ultimately makes it safer for patients, and faster for them to be treated.
- Public Entrances :
- Waiting Area
- Pediatric Waiting Area
- Off the ambulance entrance you have:
- 2 State-of-the-Art Trauma Bays
- Decontamination Room
- Major/Minor treatment rooms are all the same size (this was by design so you could use the rooms for either purpose)
- General X-Ray and CT are in the department
- 5 Observation Rooms
- 2 Psychiatric Hold Rooms
- The Emergency Department is immediately adjacent to:
- Critical Care Units(ICU/CCU)
- Surgery
- Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, & Interventional Cardiology Labs
- Inpatient Cardiac Floor

The current Sherman Health Emergency Department has a lot of great features and services as well. We were designated one of the State’s first Trauma Centers in 1972 and will continue our legacy as a leading Level II Trauma Center in this region.
